The San Francisco Family owned Union Square Sports Bar was founded by John Smith on February 1st 1998 on O’Farrell St where it thrived for 11 years before a big chain restaurant gave it no choice but to pack up and find a new home at 115 Mason Street. This new location was built in the 1800’s and rebuilt in the 1907 after the big 1906 earthquake. Originally it was named Bradley’s Bar where everyone is welcome from work caps to silk hats; the building was home to Strip Clubs, restaurants and retail stores. Before John Smith identified the location to reopen his bar the building had been closed for 13 years while being occupied by drug dealers, junkies and the homeless. The building had filled up with garbage and excrement; it was in dire need of a makeover. John saw its potential and after a small struggle with the city he spent the next 6 months renovating the boarded up space, giving it a lot of TLC and moving his bar to its new home. Turning 115 into the new Union Square Sports Bar on April 1st 2009, where everyone is welcome from their neighborhood to yours. Please stop by to grab a game, a famous hot dog or just a beer and check out this historical piece of San Francisco. The walls don’t have to talk in this place because the friendly staff is always good for a chat. Please be our guest and ENJOY!
